The scheme was launched in March 2023. The policy ensures for a variety of crops including paddy, jowar, bajra,r ragi, maize, tur, Moong, Urad, soybean, peanut, sesame, cotton and onion. With the help of this initiative, the farmers who are financially suffering can avail the benefits of this scheme. According to PMFBY, farmers of non-horticulture crops pay only 2% of the premium amount, with the remainder paid up by the state and the state in equal quantities.
