What is Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)?
The Government of India has launched Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to provide financial help of INR 5,000 to pregnant or lactating mothers. Under the scheme, the cash reward will directly be transferred into the bank account of the pregnant woman in three installments. The main objective of launching this scheme is to support pregnant women and reduce the problem of undernourishment. Under this scheme, INR 1,000 will be provided after the first antenatal checkup, INR 2,000 will be provided after the second antenatal check up and INR 3,000 will be given to the women after the child is registered.
